BIDDEFORD — Irene J. Faxon, 86, a loving mother, died on Feb. 28, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Irene’s family surrounded her with love as she entered into eternal peace and rest.

Irene was born in Biddeford on July 12, 1931 the daughter of Charles B. and Irene J. (Rouleau) DeWitt.

Irene was a natural born caregiver, who worked many years as a certified nurse’s aide; providing loving care and dignity to her home clients. She was very dedicated to her clients in the Life Line Program with Southern Maine Health Care. Irene worked each day with a smile on her face until she retired at 75 years old.

Irene possessed a strong faith in God that could not be shaken. Through life’s trials and challenges, her faith sustained her when she suffered the death of her husbands and grandson, Thomas Napier. She was a long time member of Kennebunk Advent Christian Church; where she taught Sunday school and shared in the Vacation Bible school programs in the summer.

Irene was kind and generous. She adored all of her animals and loved traveling to New York City with her daughter Cathy and husband Jim. Her daughter finally convinced her to try her hand on match.com and she met and married Russell Faxon. They were together seven years and they enjoyed going out to eat and were good friends; they could share their lives and intimate life stories with one another. She and Russell were “snow birds” who wintered in Mims, Florida and made their home together in Lebanon.

Irene was a homemaker who possessed a flair for baking. Her pies, cupcakes and cookies would not only melt in your mouth, but were all made with love. In the last few months, she had her family living with her following the death of Russell in the early fall. She and her daughter Cathy shared a strong bond between mother and daughter. With heavy hearts, they know she has heard the Word of God, “Well, Done Good and Faithful Servant” – we will miss you dearly.

Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Napier and husband Jim of Alfred and her son Richard E. Hilton and wife Patricia of Florida; her step-grandson, Jason Buda of Dayton, and step-daughters Shelly Desmarais and her partner Kenny of Danville, New Hampshire and Jodi and her husband Steve Dickens of Derry, New Hampshire.

Irene was predeceased by her first husband, Earl Hilton and her second husband, Elbridge (Mike) Baker and her third husband Russell Faxon and her grandson, Thomas Napier.

A celebration of Irene’s faithful life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Bible Church, 60 Oak Ridge Road, Biddeford.
