The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust invites the public to the first event in its Stewardship Series to learn how to identify trees in winter on Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Morse Pond Preserve in Georgetown.

Led by Stewardship Coordinator Cheri Brunault, participants will uncover clues to name the trees of the forest, even if the trees do not have distinctive foliage.

Brunault will share how to identify a variety of tree and shrub species that grow in Morse Pond Preserve using twigs, branch structure and bark.

The trail opened in 2015, and offers a diversity of tree and shrub species.

This event is free and open to public. Registration is required by March 23rdue to the limited class size.

To reach Morse Pond Preserve from Route 1, take Route Rt 127 south into Georgetown. After 10.4 miles, turn right onto Seguinland Road. The preserve parking lot is 1.4 miles down, on the right. Carpooling and careful parking is encouraged.
