HARPSWELL — Donald W. Anderson, age 85, of Harpswell died Wednesday March 7, 2018 at Mid Coast Hospital.

He was born August 6, 1932 in Tacoma, WA a son of Gustaf and Helen Holthusen Anderson. He married Rosa Tanael in 1965 in the Philippines. He was a proud Vietnam and Korean veteran, having served in the US Navy.

Following 23 years of continued service to his country stationed at the Naval Air Station, Brunswick, Mr. Anderson worked and retired with 23 years of employment as an electrician for BIW. He was a member of the Filipino-American Association, the Elk’s, and the American Legion, Post 202. He thoroughly enjoyed being near the ocean and spent his last years, in Harpswell overlooking the cove and wildlife adjacent to the home he built with a smile and the highest spirits. His tenacious demeanor was only matched by his care for family and friends.

He is predeceased by a son, Darrell W. Anderson and a sister Sonya Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Anderson of Harpswell; four sons, David Anderson of Lakeland,FL, Ernest G. Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Ronald Anderson of Phenix, AZ, Carmelito Tanael of Brunswick; three daughters, Donna M. Anderson of Casco, Cheryl Baggett and Windy Gallagher of Topsham; a brother, Glen Anderson of Tacoma, WA; a sister, Billie Anderson of Tacoma, WA; 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday the 16th at 3:00 pm at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.
