LAKELAND, Fla.

The Bowdoin College baseball team fell, 16-3, to nationally-ranked Rowan in its Florida opener on Wednesday.

The Polar Bears ( 1- 2) played their first of 11 spring- break games in Florida.

Brandon Lopez started on the mound and surrendered six runs off seven hits in three innings of work.

Bowdoin got on the board, trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third, as Connor Lee scored on a fielding error.

The Profs ( 8- 1) pushed two more runs across the plate in the fourth, but Sawyer Billings responded with a two-run homer to right center in the bottom half of the inning for Bowdoin.

From there, Rowan scored 10 unanswered runs to cruise to the win.

Eric Mah went 2- for- 3 at the plate. Nine different pitchers saw action for the Polar Bears.

Anthony Harrold went 4-for-5 for the Profs with a pair of RBIs. Five different Rowan players drove in multiple runs. Andrew Cartier earned the win with three runs allowed and eight strikeouts.

The Polar Bears look to bounce back against Keene State today at 1:30 p.m.

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Bowdoin dropped an 8- 1 decision to sixth- ranked Pomona- Pitzer on Tuesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears are 3-2, while the Sagehens improved to 5-1.

The No. 1 pair of Tess Trinka and Izzy Essi battled in doubles, but ultimately fell 8-6.

Essi earned the lone point for Bowdoin in singles play with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4.

Viv Daniel was the only other Polar Bear to steal a set from the Sagehens, winning her opener 6- 4 before falling 6- 4 in the second. Her opponent ultimately took the tiebreaker 10-4.
