KENNEBUNK — Claire Emma Marie (Paulhus) Wormwood, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Gosnell House surrounded by family.

Claire was born Nov. 20, 1935, in Sanford, Maine, to the late Onias and Lena (Labbe) Paulhus. She married Donald Wormwood on July 31, 1954 and had three daughters. Claire was a longtime resident of Kennebunk. Claire worked in the cafeteria at Kennebunk High School for many years. She was the most loving and giving person and touched many lives. She spent most of her time helping others and giving back to the community.

Claire was actively involved with Kennebunk Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher and a Deaconess. Her faith was an integral part of her life. She was involved in missions and on the prayer chain for many years. She blessed all who knew her with her prayers.

Claire will be remembered for her loving and giving ways and putting others before herself. She always made sure that her family members were taken care of. She was a mother figure to many people. Claire was well known for her great cooking and loved to share her food and recipes. She loved hosting family get togethers, holidays, and game nights. Some of her favorites were hand and foot, cribbage, scat & rummikub.

Claire was predeceased in death by her husband, Donald Wormwood in 2005, two sisters Jane Moisan in 2013 and Doris Pires in 2017, a brother Albert Paulhus in 2015, and a son-in-law Skip Lessard in 2010.

She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Wormwood) Brabble and her husband Lee of North Carolina, Celeste (Wormwood) Lessard and Corine (Wormwood) Baker and her husband Dennis, all from Kennebunk; one sister Adrienne and her husband Edward Fagnant of Chicopee, Massachusetts; a brother Raymond Paulhus of Plaistow, New Hampshire; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed the companionship of her dear friend Paul Goulet.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Kennebunk Baptist Church, located at 77 Main St. in Kennebunk.
