OLD ORCHARD BEACH – An alleged armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant in Old Orchard Beach today could be connected to a recent string of reported robberies in Cumberland County.
Old Orchard Beach police responded at 3:38 p.m. today to a report of robbery at the China Eatery restaurant on Ocean Park Road, according to a press release from police.
An unidentified man wearing dark clothing and a covered face was reported to have entered the restaurant brandishing a firearm. The man allegedly demanded money from the cash register and immediately left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.
Multiple police departments arrived to assist and the alleged robber was not found, according to police.
The alleged robber is described as about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and may possibly have blonde hair, according to police.
Old Orchard Beach police say the reported armed robbery appears to be similar to a recent string of robberies reported in the Cumberland County area.
The investigation is ongoing. The Old Orchard Beach Police Department is asking anyone with information to call 934-4911.
