Lisbon police said they arrested a local man Wednesday whom they say allegedly made threats on social media targeting a state government office.
Police say they received an anonymous tip that Alexander Hanks, 24, of Lisbon allegedly threatened on Facebook to blow up the Maine Department of Health and Human Services building.
Shortly before 6 p.m., Hanks was taken into custody in Lewiston without incident. Police said they searched his residence. No firearms or bomb making materials were found.
Hanks was charged with Class C terrorizing, a crime punishable by up to five years incarceration and a $5,000 fine. He is scheduled to appear at the Androscoggin County Courthouse June 6. Bail was set at $2,500, and Hanks was transported from Lisbon Police Department to the Androscoggin County Jail.
