Coastal Humane Society has worked with rescue partner Wolf Pond Sanctuary in Magee, Mississippi, for three years, helping to alleviate overpopulation in the region, which is bursting with stray animals.
On Easter weekend, two staff members made the long trip to pick up the group of puppies and young adult dogs that will find homes here in Maine.
This week, its team has been preparing the canines for adoption, providing each with a medical exam, spay/neuter surgery, all needed vaccinations, and for the older dogs, behavior assessments.
All of the dogs’ photos have been posted on the Coastal Humane Society Facebook page with other information.
The adoption event will run from noon to 6 p.m. at Coastal Humane Society, located at 30 Range Road in Brunswick; and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lincoln County Animal Shelter, located at 27 Atlantic Highway in Edgecomb.
For more information, visit the shelter’s Facebook page or call (207) 725-5051.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
