
The ceremonies recognized the anniversary of the day the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived on American soil.
“Recognizing the bravery and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans and their families is so important, especially considering the terrible welcomes some of them experienced when they returned to the U.S. at the time,” said Deschambault. “Welcoming Conrad and the others to the State House and talking with them was incredibly moving. I am forever grateful for their service.”
Conrad Letellier served in the Marines in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal for wounds he sustained in 1968 while serving with the Ninth Marine Amphibious Brigade.
