She was born in Canada on April 4, 1927, a daughter of Armand and Marguerite (Lemiuex) Luneau. Irene moved to the United States at a young age and was educated from Holy Family in Sanford.
Irene married her husband Fernand on Sept. 25, 1948. They built their own home, settling on the Berry Road in Saco, living there for over 40 years. This home still remains in the family today.
Irene worked various jobs including Bates Manufacturing, Kesslen Shoe and retired from Maremont/Saco Defense after 11 years, in 1976. But of all the things she valued and considered precious, she loved being a homemaker the most. Her husband and her family were her first loves. She cherished the time they spent together. During these special times, the family has created wonderful memories that they will hold on to forever. She will be sadly missed by many.
Irene’s hobbies included gardening, playing cards and completing puzzles.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Precourt had great faith. She gained an appreciation for the beauty and importance of her faith and was a parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and most recently St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Fernand Precourt, on April 19, 2006, two grandchildren Seth and Braeden, one brother Robert Luneau, one sister Jeannette Roux and one son-in- law Harold O’Brien.
She is survived by five children, Claire E. Faucher and her husband Renald, Carmen H. O’Brien, Muriel J. Quinn, Maurice G. Precourt and his wife Cheryl and David A. Precourt and his wife Joanne; nine grandchildren, Bobby, Suzanne, Jackie, Michael, Steven, Carol, Tina, Josh and Nick; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by one sister Jacqueline Ide, nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.
