Connor Brown erupted for three goals to power Mt. Ararat to a season-opening 5-2 boys high school lacrosse win over Maranacook/ Winthrop on Thursday.
The Eagles (1-0) received 13 saves from netminder Dan Jackson, including six in the opening quarter.
Matt Lawrence and Hayden Libby each added a goal, while Keegan Brown picked up an assist. Sean Roberts led the Eagles with seven ground balls, with Owen Kelly grabbing five ground balls.
Colin Adair and Owen Austin scored a goal apiece for the Black Bears (0-1), with goaltender Will Hayes credited with nine saves.
Mt. Ararat hosts Maine Central Institute on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
