It’s about time for a warm-up.

56 days ago was the last time we hit the mid 60s in Portland (everyone remembers that one warm February day, right?) and the average first 70 degree day is actually this Saturday.

While the next two days look dismal, a change is coming.

It doesn’t look like a wholesale pattern change; meaning, I don’t think we’re suddenly flipping the switch to a sustained pattern of sun and spring warmth.

However, beginning this weekend and going through the middle of next week, we should have sunshine and progressively mild air.

All told, the pattern itself is not very warm. It’s all relative. We’ve been so damp and chilly, even an ‘average’ day in the low to mid 50s feels warm for us.

High pressure starts to build in Saturday. We’ll see a partly cloudy sky with highs nearing 50. Sunday we start to get into the 50s.

As the high moves to our east, we’ll get a return flow out of the south and southwest, bringing in milder air for Monday and Tuesday, when we have a shot at hitting the 60s.

Beyond that, a storm may be forming for the middle or end of next week.

In the meantime, a warm-up is something we all can look forward to. Cheers.
