Leavitt scored three runs in the top of the first and held on for a 3-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference high school softball victory over Morse on Wednesday.

Morse scored its lone run in the second inning. Micailah Albertson, Abby Carpenter and Maddie Mitchell each had singles for the ’Builders (4-2).

Cassie Murch paced the Hornets (2-4) with two singles while Hannah Dubois added a double.

Leah Maheaux picked up the win for Leavitt with five strikeouts and a pair of walks. Morse’s Dory Kulis took the loss, also striking out five and walking two.

Morse will travel to play Medomak Valley on Friday at 4 p.m.

Kelsey Currier threw a one-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts, and the Rangers (4-2) scored 12 runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Falcons (0-4) in a mercy-rule game at Cumberland.

Hannah Johnston paced a 13-hit attack with three hits. Currier had two doubles, and Maddie Rawnsley chipped in with a pair of singles.

Freeport is slated to host Cape Elizabeth on Friday at 4 p.m.

Girls lacrosse

YORK — Freeport fell to 2-2 with a Western Maine Conference 11- 7 setback against York.

Taylor Rinaldi paced Freeport with three goals, four ground balls and two draw controls. Maggie Murray had two goals, while Margaret Perrotta added a goal and an assist, Emma Carter a goal, and Chloe Davidson and Molly Whelan one assist.

Freeport, which visits North Yarmouth Academy on Tuesday at 4 p.m., goaltenders Cameryn Pasquale and Piper Sherbert split 16 saves down the middle.
