BIDDEFORD — The visiting Kennebunk softball team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and would hold off a Biddeford rally as the Rams picked up an 11-6 win on Monday afternoon.
Brittney Gregoire led the way for Kennebunk as she had three hits, including a two-run home run that was part of a seven-run third inning.
Christine Jarowicz had a two-run single and Emily Hogue added a two-run double for Kennebunk, which improved to 4-4 with the win.
Biddeford (4-3) would score all six of its runs in the bottom of the fifth. Olivia Whittaker, Lexi Matteau, Brook Davis and Katie Stewart all had RBI singles in the inning.
Lydia Howarth earned the win in the circle for Kennebunk.
Massabesic 7, Westbrook 3
The Mustangs would get three hits, including a double, and three RBIs from Grace Tutt as they picked up the win on Monday.
Massabesic (4-3) would also get two singles from Janelle Sperdakos and an RBI triple from Zoey DeAngellis.
BOYS TENNIS
Kennebunk/Wells 4, Biddeford 1
Declan Archer and Mason Burke would pick up singles wins on Monday to lead Kennebunk/Wells over Biddeford.
Biddeford’s Cody Saucier earned a hard-fought 6-2, 3-6, 8-6 win over Dan Behrans at second singles.
Kennebunk/Wells’ Tom Zub and Jack Gurski earned a win at first doubles, while Will Zub and Logan Strausss picked up a victory at second doubles.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Biddeford 15, Wells 2
The host Tigers outscored Wells 10-1 in the second half to secure the win on Saturday.
Grace Boisvert led the way for Biddeford with four goals and one assist.
Peyton McKeown added three assists and two goals for the Tigers, who also got two goals and one assist from both Megan Mourmouras and Hailey Allen.
Biddeford’s Kairlye McQueen added two goals and Abby Allen, Serena Speight and Paige Laverriere all chipped in one goal.
Sarah Webb had 13 saves for Wells, while Ella McKenzie stopped six shots for Biddeford.
TRACK & FIELD
OOB athletes qualify for states
Megan Niedzwiecki and Connor Feitz each punched their tickets to the state meet in a meet at Yarmouth on Friday.
Niedzwiecki won both the shot put and discus on Friday. She would qualify for states in the shot put with a personal best throw of 29-feet, 3-inches. The OOB standout had previously qualified for states in the discus.
Feitz will head to states in the 200 meters after finishing second on Friday with a time of 24.41. He would also finish fifth in the high jump.
Maegan Halle finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 29-05, which was good enough for a provisional spot at the state meet. Hale was also fifth in the long jump.
The OOB girls would also get a second-place finish from Ava Clark in the high jump, while Sarah Thayer (javelin), Kaitlyn Cote (400 meters) and Cierra Albert (3,200) all finished fourth.
The 1,600 relay team of Cote, Clark, Halle and Albert finished third on Friday.
The OOB boys would get a third place finish from Trevor Grenier in the 300 hurdles, and Seamus Roche was fifth in the triple jump.
