SACO  — Saco police say a man reported missing earlier this week has been found alive and well in Westbrook.

On Monday, Saco Police officers and detectives had requested the public’s assistance in locating 38-year-old Nathaniel Glavin.

Deputy Saco Police Chief Jack Clements said that Glavin’s brother had reported him missing earlier that day.

The brother informed police that Glavin had taken off on his bicycle without taking any of his personal belongings and not returned to his homes.

Clements said at the time that Glavin had called in sick at work.

The brother was concerned about his whereabouts and desperate to find him, Clements said.

“There was no way to track him,” Clements said.

For the next three days, police attempted to trace where Glavin might have gone and to solve the mystery surrounding his disappearance.

Police in nearby communities and regions were placed on alert to notify the Saco Police Department in the event that they spotted Glavin or if anyone knew of his whereabouts.

Clements said he received a call from Westbrook police that Glavin was located Friday morning, and that he was “alive and well.”

Other details are not known currently, Clements said.

According to Maine law, there is no 24-hour waiting period required to report a person as missing to local police departments.

Incidents involving missing persons and juveniles should be reported immediately to authorities.

Police say it is important to have a photograph of the missing person available for the patrol officer so a flyer can be made.

Those reporting someone who is missing should also be prepared to provide a complete description of the missing person/juvenile and able to provide other details regarding the incident.
