ALTOONA, Pa.

The Altoona Curve (21-18) scored seven two-out runs and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (15-26), 12-3 on Sunday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Portland split the four-game Eastern League set and finished the road trip 4- 4.

Mitch Keller (5-2) worked 6 2/3 innings on five hits, two runs, and seven strikeouts to earn the win. Dedgar Jimenez (1-3) was saddled with the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits.

The ’Dogs got off to a good start, receiving a two-out walk in the first inning by Jantzen Witte. Following a steal of second base, Witte scored on the double by Josh Ockimey.

Altoona stormed right back, scoring two in the first on a two-out homer by Will Craig.

In the second, Jimenez allowed two runs on a leadoff homer to Christian Kelley and a sacrifice fly to Ke’Bryan Hayes.

The Curve added a run in the fifth and extended their lead to 7-1 on Logan Hill’s two-out, two-run homer in the fifth.

In the sixth, Danny Mars led off with a walk and scored when Jantzen Witte hit into a double play. Chad De La Guerra singled in the inning and has hit safely in all 13 games since joining Portland on May 9.

Altoona scored five runs off Jake Cosart on three straight, two-out run-scoring hits in the sixth.

Portland is off today and opens up an eight-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Hartford Yard Goats. Tickets can be purchased at seadogs.com or 879-9500.
