Town begins spraying to curb moth infestation

The town will begin its spraying program Monday to curb an infestation of browntail moths in the area. The spraying will take place in the early morning hours along Route 88 at the border of Falmouth and Cumberland and proceeding south.

The contractor, Whitney Tree Service, will spray a chemical called Conserve SC from the road, using a truck-mounted mistblower, on infested trees along the right side of the road only. Side roads will not be treated.

For a complete list of areas scheduled to be sprayed, go to www.falmouthme.org/home/pages/browntail-moth. The website will be updated daily with the treatment schedule so affected residents can prepare for their streets to be treated.
