BATH

The Morse High School girls lacrosse team rallied from a one-goal halftime deficit for a 10-9 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Brunswick on Monday.

The Shipbuilders improved to 5-5, while the Dragons fell to 3-7.

Emily Martin led Morse with five goals and one assist, with Mae Winglass scoring a hat trick, and Maddie McDonough and Marija Medenica adding a goal each. Macie Gagne dished out a pair of helpers, while McDonough had one assist.

Beth Labbe paced Brunswick with four goals and one assist in the loss. Colleen McKearney picked up two goals and two assists, Emily Coffin two goals, Lila Solberg a goal and an assist, and Bronte Fontaine an assist.

In goal, Dragons netminder Mikaela Aschbrenner had nine saves, while Morse’s Zenaide McCarthy (six saves) and Abby Sreden (seven) combined on 13 stops.

Morse returns to action May 29 against Lewiston at Bates College, while Brunswick hosts rival Mt. Ararat on Friday at 6 p.m.

MT. ARARAT 11

The Eagles earned their first victory (1-8) with a KVAC win at Fairfield.

Fiona Hoang led Mt. Ararat (1-8), which hosts Boothbay on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., with four goals. Shannon Harty and Zoe McNally added two goals each, with Maddy Svetin, Jess Cloutier and Erin Harty chipping in one.

Casi Paetow made six saves in the win.

Cass Poli and Lexi Lewis each scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough for the Bulldogs (5-4).

Baseball

WINTHROP — Noah Austin, Lucas Francis and Sean Scott each had two singles to lead Lisbon to a 7-5 Mountain Valley Conference win over Winthrop.

Nick Austin earned the win for the Greyhounds, who improved to 10-2 and hosts Boothbay on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Tied 3-3 in the seventh, Lisbon rallied for four runs against Winthrop starting pitcher Greg Foy (6 2/3 innings, three strikeouts, one walk).

Noah Austin started for the Greyhounds, going five innings on three runs, five hits, three strikeouts and four walks. Nick Austin finished, tossing two innings on two runs, two hits and one strikeout.

Jackson Ladd led Winthrop (8-5) with three singles, while Cam Gaghan added two singles.

POLAND 1

FREEPORT 10

Gabe Wagner launched a home run and plated three runs as Freeport sailed to a Western Maine Conference win over Poland.

The Knights (1-13) drew first blood in the top of the third inning with a single run. The Falcons (10-3) responded with three in the home half of the fourth, and capped the scoring with seven in the fifth.

Shea Wagner had a double and a triple, while Cody Wagner laid down three singles for Freeport.

Colby Bell had three of Poland’s hits, and Adrien Melanson connected for a double in the losing effort.

The Falcons host Fryeburg Academy on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

HALL- DALE 22

WISCASSET 0

Alex Haley had a double, a single and two RBIs as the Bulldogs pounded out 16 hits in the MVC win at Wiscasset.

Josh Nadeau added three singles and five RBIs for Hall-Dale (13-0), while Jacob Brown had three singles.

CJ Robert had a single for Wiscasset (0-13), which hosts Monmouth on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

MT. ARARAT 5

HAMPDEN 4

Nick Merrill collected four hits and the Eagles got solid pitching as they downed Hampden Academy for a key KVAC win.

The win moves Mt. Ararat to 9-5 and hosts Cony on Friday at 4 p.m. The home team fell to 9-4.

Both teams traded runs over the first two innings, but the Eagles scored a pair in the top half of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.

The Broncos threatened in the bottom half, but Ben Freeman relieved starter Garrett Moody with two outs and the bases loaded and got the Hampden hitter to fly out to right.

Hampden scored a run in the sixth before Cam Grant closed the game out in the seventh.

Hunter Lohr and Kaileb Hawkes each tripled in the win.

Sam Economy knocked three hits, while Derek Gendreau and Kent Oliver each had a pair of hits for the Broncos.

Softball

FREEPORT — Leya Harvey scored on a fielder’s choice to break a 5-5 tie and Amanda’lyn Gagne followed with a two-run single as Poland (7-6) defeated Freeport, 8-5, in eight innings Monday in WMC action.

Gagne tied the game in the seventh, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Morgan Brousseau.

Megan Cormier hit a two-run double during a three-run third for Freeport (2-11), which hosts Fryeburg Academy on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

MT. ARARAT 1

HAMPDEN 10

The host Broncos put an end to Mt. Ararat’s five-game winning streak in KVAC play.

Hampden Academy scored three runs in the first, two in the second and four more in the third for a 9-0 lead. Emily Dysart, Sydney Hatch, Libby Hughes and Eliza Murphy had eight of the Broncos’ 12 hits.

The run support was plenty for Hatch on the mound. She allowed just five hits for the win.

Amanda O’Neill had two hits and the lone RBI for the Eagles in the seventh inning. Morgan Johnson was 1-for-1 with a double, and Ema Hawkes and Jaden Lohr each singled.

Camille Rowe took the mound loss.

Mt. Ararat visits Skowhegan today at 4 p.m.

Boys lacrosse

BRUNSWICK — Aiden Glover had a 10-point game to lead Brunswick to an 18-4 victory over Maranacook/ Winthrop.

The Dragons improved to 8-3 and visit Mt. Ararat on May 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Brunswick left little doubt about the outcome in the first half, taking a 7-2 lead after a quarter and a 14-4 edge at the half. The Dragons held the Black Bears scoreless in the second half.

Glover had seven goals and three assists to power the Dragons, while Max Gramins picked up a hat trick and dished out an assist.

Also for Brunswick, Nolan Lyne and Andrew Eno finished with two goals and one helper each, Jacob Belanger scored a goal and picked up an assist, and Josh McDiarmid, Nick Munn and Chandler Coombs added a goal each. Henry Doherty also had an assist.

Grant Liberty led Maranacook/Winthrop with three goals and one assist. Owen Austin contributed a goal.

In the cage, three Dragons netminders combined on nine saves.
