OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Florence M. Jenkins, 90, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Southern Maine Healthcare with her children by her side.

Florence was born on Sept. 5, 1927 in Dorchester Massachusetts, a daughter of Florence and Mary Lovett Minihan. She attended Dorchester High School for Girls and graduated in 1946. After World War II she married Charles Jenkins on Feb. 18, 1950. While they were living in Medford, Massachusetts, she worked in the Registrar’s Office at Tufts University until she and Charlie moved to Saco, Maine, in 1983.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Charles on March 30, 2014, her parents, two sisters Ellen and Anne and a brother John. She is survived by her daughter Charlene Uldbjerg and husband Donald of Saco, two sons Charles Jenkins of San Francisco, California and John Jenkins of Old Orchard Beach. She also leaves behind three grandsons Shawn Stetson and his wife Melanie, Eric Uldbjerg and Nicolas Jenkins and three great granddaughters Sophie, Lucy and Emily, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Florence will be remembered for her enduring love of family and her faith. She was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish and always attended mass at Saint Margaret Church. She was very proud of her Irish heritage, visiting Ireland twice and finding the home her mom grew up in. She loved music, a good joke and danced often. She and Charlie were often first on the dance floor. She grew to adore Siberian Huskies and cared for several over the years.

We were so blessed to have her for so long. She will be terribly missed by her children and all her family.

Visiting hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home at 87 James St., Saco. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Saint Margaret Church. Burial will be after the funeral in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
