BRUNSWICK
The fabric art of Linda Shepard is getting a show of its own at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick this month.
The show — “Animal Alchemy” — will run from June 8 through July 4 at the church.
Shepard’s wall hangings feature fanciful interpretations of animals, birds and insects.
The technique used is similar to making mosaics, using hundreds of small pieces to form the subject.
“My goal is to make an image that shines with an abundance of color and offers textural and visual pleasure,” Shepard said in a prepared statement. “In this way, I celebrate the ordinary. Sometimes with humor, whimsy, reverence, or with an eye toward the dream world.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
