BIDDEFORD — Harold L. Cyr Jr., 91, of Biddeford died Friday, June 1, 2018 at Seal Rock Health Care in Saco.
He was born March 13, 1927 in Eagle Lake, Maine a son of Harold L. and Exilia (Doucette) Cyr Sr. and was educated there.
He came to Biddeford in 1943. On Aug. 13, 1949 he married Pearl Bouchard in Biddeford.
At the beginning of World War II, he worked at the South Portland Shipyard before serving in the U.S. Navy. His employment history included three years at the Saco-Lowell Shops, eight years at Mill City Chevrolet, 16 years at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and seven years at Prescott Metal shop. He retired in 1987.
He had been a member of St. Andre’s Church, and a member of the Eagles, Aerie #804. He enjoyed walking and was an avid pool player.
He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cyr and two sisters, Jeanne Lafreniere and Betty Cleroux.
Harold was survived by Pearl, his wife of 68 years who died on June 2.
He is survived by two sons, Bruce Cyr of Cincinnati, Ohio and Rickie Cyr and his wife Debra of Biddeford; a daughter Nancy Nitti and her husband John of Fort Lee, New Jersey; two sisters, Berdina Jordan of Gorham, Maine and Eileen Iwanjko of Newcastle, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Heather, Travis, and Gianna; and nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A joint funeral service for Harold and Pearl will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Hope Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
