LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS participated in a training exercise in which a Bowdoin house on West Road, donated by a resident, was intentionally burned Saturday. Bowdoin Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Brown said it was an important exercise, especially for new firefighters. ” We try to make it as safe as possible while still providing the necessary training so that when they get into that emergency environment, they’ve got the skills so they don’t go in there and freeze; they go in there and do what they need to do,” Brown said.
