A single-vehicle crash on Forest Avenue Tuesday snapped a utility pole, closing the road in both directions while Central Maine Power crews work to fix it, Portland police said.

The crash involved one car that struck the pole near Dartmouth Street at 470 Forest Ave., according to Portland police and Portland Fire Capt. John Brennan. The driver, who was not identified, was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, Brennan said.

Portland police tweeted that the lanes will be shut until around 5 p.m., and drivers in the city should plan their commute accordingly.
