WELLS — William Thomas McMullen, Jr, 76 years, Billy or Mac to his friends, died May 24, 2018, at York Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mac was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Medford, Masschusetts, a son of William and Annie (Byrnes) McMullen, Sr. He graduated high school from Medford, Massachusetts and went on to proudly serve his country during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. After serving for 10 years in the Marine Corps, Mac spent time in Massachusetts and Maine. Always handy with woodcraft, Mac went to work for a family business, Tufts Construction. Mac spent all of his working years with them.
Mac enjoyed yard work and woodworking. He was an avid sports fan and followed football, golf, NASCAR, and the Tour de France. He was an avid watcher of movies. He was a past member of the Wells Elks Lodge #2738, where for years; he was a bartender and very active member. Mac was a loving dedicated spouse (domestic partner) to Anna; a gentle strong and disciplined example to her boys, Joseph, Peter, and Paul; an example of strong morals and integrity to his grandchildren and a true and loyal friend. He always let you know what he was thinking, was always willing to help others, and never hesitated to step in. He always enjoyed good times.
Mac was predeceased by his stepson Paul Phillip Colarossi and his brother, Joseph Byrnes.
He is lovingly remembered by his longtime partner of 24 years, Anna Colarossi; stepsons, Joseph Henry Colarossi and his wife, Gail, and Peter Michael Colarossi; his brother James Byrnes and family; his sister in law, Janice Byrnes and family; grandchildren, Michael Joseph Colarossi, Ashley Elizabeth Colarossi and Lucas Paul Colarossi; his godchild, Miss Kelly Morse and her family; Paul and Patricia Tufts and their family as well as Junior (Charles) and Geraldine (Gerry)Tufts and his family and many nieces and nephews. This list would not be complete without mentioning all of Mac’s military brothers both living and deceased as well as Mac’s friends. We the family, certainly mean no harm by excluding any friends or family names.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St, Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, Maine with Father Fred Morse. Military honors will be rendered following the service at St. Mary’s. Semper Fi.
