Here’s a look at some recent charitable efforts by Pape.
The dealership:
• Donated a truck to South Portland High School Athletics. The vehicle was raffled off this spring;
• Is a Silver Sponsor of the South Portland Summer Movie Series at Bug Light Park;
• Made a donation to the Scarborough Public Library to help fund a new Electric Vehicle Charging Station with solar panels;
• Made a donation to Scarborough Little League and is now the major sponsor of the league’s new scoreboard at Saint Max Field;
• Contributed to Rippleffect’s “Rappel for Ripple,” event, which helps fund outdoor activities and scholarships for underprivileged youths in Maine;
• Sponsored Southern Maine Community College’s annual “A Light on the Point” event. The celebration is SMCC’s Culinary Department’s flagship annual event.
• Donated to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital 2018 Golf Tournament.
Also of note: Pape has been an enthusiatic supporter of the United Way of Greater Portland for many years.
Once again this year, Pape is donating a vehicle to the United Way’s Workplace Campaign Raffle, and president/owner Fred Pape III is co-chairing the United Way’s Retail Division of its annual campaign.
In 2017, the local United Way chapter surpassed its campaign goal in raising $8,053,931. Pape was a key supporter, with its employees contributing $25,190 in pledges.
