
SANFORD – A 76-year-old man who went missing from his home in Sanford just after 5 p.m Saturday. was found safe in Newfield – about 19 miles away – more than five hours later.
Sanford Police Det. Craig Andersen said Paul Lasante, who walked away from a residence on Old Post Road was found walking on Route 11 in Newfield by a citizen who had been monitoring the Sanford Police Department Facebook page and recognized Lasante from the photo displayed.
Police here had out the word Lasante was missing and asked for the public’s help in locating him. In a statement, police said Lasante suffers from dementia and may not be aware of his surroundings He was last seen walking on route 4 in Alfred, headed toward Waterboro, in the vicinity of York County Jail at approximately 5:14 p.m. Saturday. He was wearing a ball cap, blue sweat shirt, tan pants and brown boots.Police said Lasante had previously lived in Parsonsfield.
“Thank you all for your assistance.,” said Andersen in a statement.
