Bath — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust in partnership with Patten Free Library is offering free children’s programs in July and August. Four programs will offer farm and garden themed stories and outdoor activities for children 6 years old and younger. Programs are held Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m. Participants will learn about plants and what they need to grow through stories and outdoor, hands-on activities at the LOCAL Garden in Bath, the land trust’s Sewall Woods Preserve and the Library Park:

 July 11: Grow Garden Grow! at LOCAL Garden

 July 18: Spiders: Silly or Scary? at Library Park

 July 25: Busy, Busy Bees at LOCAL Garden

 Aug. 1: Seed Sleuths at Sewall Woods Preserve

Parents are welcomed and encouraged to take part in the activities. Closedtoed shoes are recommended. No sign-up required for these events but questions can be directed to Becky Kolak at [email protected] or (207) 442- 8400. These programs are generously sponsored by the Davenport Trust Fund.

Land trust launches nature day camp

The trust invites local kids aged to a week of nature-day camp on the shores of Sewall Pond in Arrowsic.

KELT Kids Summer Day Camp is Aug. 13-17 for kids aged 9-12 and the week of Aug. 20-24 for kids aged 6-8. Campers will spend their day outside exploring the Kennebec Estuary and engaging in hands-on experiments, art projects, games and discussion alongside the trust’s educational staff.

Camp runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. costs $160 for current trust members and $190 for non-members. The registration deadline is Aug. 6. Visit kennebecestuary.org/summer camp for more information.
