Lisandro Berry-Gaviria, Mt. Ararat sophomore: Berry-Gaviria won the 1,600 (4:26.66) and 3,200 (9:56.43) at the Class A state meet, and posted the top time in the state this season for the 3,200 (9:16.51).

Ben Cotton, John Bapst senior: Cotton won the long jump (20-9 3/4) and 100 (11.28) in Class B and took second in the 200 (23.32).

Garrett Graham, Brewer senior: Graham earned All New-England honors in the shot put (55-0 3/4) with a fourth-place finish after winning the shot put (54-4 3/4) and taking third in the discus (137-11) at the Class B state meet.

Luke Laverdiere, Yarmouth senior: Laverdiere successfully defended his Class B titles in the 1,600 (4:23.09) and the 3,200 (9:45.49), and posted the fastest time in the state this season for the 1,600 (4:21.80).

Mitchell Libby, Wells senior: Libby won the 800 (1:59.41) and 3,200 (10:26.46) at the Class C state meet, and ran the fastest time in the state this year in the 800 (1:56.18).

Jacob McCluskey, Brewer junior: McCluskey was New England discus champion (168-1) and also won the Class B title (147-10). He had the top throw in the state this season with a mark 174-9.

Jason Montano, Thornton Academy junior: Montano won the shot put at the New England championships with a state-best mark of 59-2 1/2 and took sixth in the discus (155-11). He placed first in both the shot put (55-2 3/4) and discus (145-7) at the Class A state meet.

Cayden Spencer-Thompson, Mattanawcook Academy junior: Spencer-Thompson set two all-time Maine best marks while winning the long jump (24-1 3/4) and triple jump (48-3 3/4) at the New England championships. He also won both events at the Class C state meet.

Travis Snyder, Thornton Academy junior: Snyder won the pole vault at the New England championships (15-9) and won three events at the Class A state meet to lead Thornton to a tie for the team title – placing first in the 110 hurdles (14.96), 300 hurdles (41.53) and pole vault (14-9).

Zach Westman, York senior: Westman finished third in the 300 hurdles at the New England championships in a state-leading time of 39.22, and repeated as Class B champion (40.24). He also placed second in the triple jump (42-4) and third in the 110 hurdles (15.88) at the state meet.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Danny Paul, Falmouth: Paul’s team didn’t have any individual state champions this year and won only one relay at the Class A state meet, but the Yachtsmen produced enough points across the events to tie Thornton Academy for the team championship – its first since moving up to Class A.
