Heavy rain and traffic on Maine Turnpike were creating slowdowns on southern portions of the highway southbound Sunday.
The Maine Turnpike Authority reported at 11 a.m. that traffic was heavy between Exit 36 in Saco and the New Hampshire line and advised motorists to expect delays and use caution. Traffic remained backed up at 12:35 p.m.
A two-vehicle crash at 11:55 a.m. in the northbound lane at mile 26 was also causing delays between Exit 19 in Wells and Exit 32 in Biddeford.
