The City of South Portland’s corporate track & field team won its ninth consecutive state championship last month. The team, comprised of municipal and school department employees and their families, fielded 63 athletes and scored a league record 1,382 points. Team member Mike Towle was awarded the Tim Smith Award as the league’s outstanding distance runner in recognition of his five league records and for finishing as the top individual point scorer in the league.
