Fast-moving thunderstorms put a damper on some summer weekend plans in Maine, even prompting small stream advisories in some parts of the state and urban flooding.

Whitefield got the most rain – about 2 inches – from the storms Friday and Saturday, and several towns in the Carrabassett Valley area had small-stream advisories, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Stacie Hanes.

In Portland, the rainfall total for the last 24 hours was just over a half-inch, and Lewiston got eight-tenths of an inch, Hanes said Saturday evening.

The storms will clear out Sunday, but hot and humid conditions are expected in the southern part of the state. More rain and thunderstorms are forecast on Tuesday.
