FREEPORT — Beverly M. Scammon age 85 a longtime Freeport resident died Friday, August 3rd at Horizon’s Living and Rehabilitation Center in Brunswick with her family by her side.

Beverly was educated in Freeport schools and had worked for Freeport Shoe company for many years. Beverly later became a daycare owner which was her love and passion. Bev cared for many children including her grandchildren over the years and most of those she cared for kept in touch with her.

Bev was a member of the Freeport Fire and Rescue Auxiliary for over 28 years. She was also a member of the Freeport Elders Association.

Bev was predeceased by her husband Robert R. Scammon who died in 1984.

Bev is survived by her two sons Randy Scammon and his wife Gail and Robert Scammon and his wife Rose. Also survived by her grandchildren Heather, Kriss, Robert Jr., Ashley and Jeff as well as six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Bev’s life will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 12 Noon at the First Parish Congregational Church, 461 Elmwood Road, Pownal with a reception to immediately follow the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Horizon’s Living and Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 29 Maurice Drive Brunswick, Maine 04011.
