BOWDOINHAM — Hope Elaine Temple Larrabee, age 95, died on Friday, August 17, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Belfast, Maine, on September 29, 1922, the daughter of Homer and Cassinette Herrick Jellison.

She attended the Little Red School House and was a 1940 graduate of Brunswick High School. Hope had also trained as an LPN.

On November 22, 1941, she married Fred Leroy Temple and they resided on Vine Street until his death on August 5, 1987. During WWII Hope served as a local plane spotter in the Civil Air Patrol. In addition to being a homemaker for her family, Hope also worked at the Bowdoinham Community School in the lunch program and as a nurse’s assistant at the former Regional Memorial Hospital. She had also worked at Senter’s Department Store in Brunswick.

Hope was very involved in church work and with the needs of the community. She served as a Sunday School teacher, hosted Fresh Air Kids from New York, and volunteered for the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program Food Pantry in Brunswick.

On May 17, 1998, she married A. Gardiner Larrabee and they resided on the Post Road in Bowdoinham until moving. He died on August 2, 2014.

Surviving are four sons Robert and Mark Temple, both of Brunswick, Dennis Temple and his wife Darlene, Fred Temple and his wife Nanci, all of Bowdoinham. Hope is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 24 at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Dorr officiating. Interment will follow in Bay View Cemetery in Bowdoinham.
