Court nominees shouldn’t be considered now

Sens. Collins and King should refuse to consider Kavanaugh or any Supreme Court nominee as long as Trump remains under investigation for his campaign’s involvement in Russian interference in US elections.

In 2016, Senate Republicans refused to consider Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland because he was a lame duck president. This rationale is trivial compared the stakes at hand today.

Trump’s pick could end up the deciding vote on whether Trump himself is ultimately held accountable for crimes he may have committed.

Senate consideration of any Trump nominee is like letting alleged criminals have literally whomever they choose as their trial judge.

Dump ‘Another View’

I agree and urge that The Times Record should discontinue running the Another View op-eds (Letters to the Editor, Aug. 21). As Mr. Mogk observed, those pieces, purporting to be opinion columns, repeatedly misrepresent facts and mislead about who they are and who they are representing.

I urge The Times Record to ensure that all regular contributors be accurate in stating facts and provide full disclosure about who is submitting the column.
