HARPSWELL — James Albert Raslavsky of Harpswell died on August 23, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, on July 28, 1946, a son of Albert and Mary Pruzinsky Raslavsky.
James spent 35 years in the sport of rowing and founded The Crews at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, MA and at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. He was a mentor to many young men and was loved and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Survivors include his spouse of 49 years, Janet Ferranto Raslavsky, his daughters, Heidi Beth Madison of Lewiston and Cassandra Jane Veilleux of Topsham, a grandson, Drew James Veilleux of Topsham, a sister, Marianne Albury of Man O’War Cay-Bahamas, and brothers, Robert and Thomas Raslavsky of Worcester, MA.
A memorial service will be in the fall when a boat donated to Worcester Polytechnic Institute will be dedicated in his name.
