BIDDEFORD — Nicholas Antonio Mariello, 81, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at Southridge Living and Rehabilitation Center in Biddeford.

He was born January 14, 1937 in Biddeford a son of Antonio John and Rose Anna (Martel) Mariello.  Educated locally, he was a 1955 graduate of Biddeford High School.

Nicholas served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.

On May 30, 1968 he married Jacqueline Berube in St. Mary’s Church.

He had been employed with Diamond International and later at Pratt & Whitney.

A former high school football, baseball and basketball player, he enjoyed golf and his sons’ baseball and football activities.

He was predeceased by a brother John Mariello in 1987.

Nicholas is survived by Jacqueline, his wife of 50 years of Biddeford; three sons, Nicholas Mariello Jr. and his wife Monica of Austria, Rico Mariello and his wife Kerry of Biddeford, and Dominic Mariello and his wife Julie of Virginia; five grandchildren, Gabriella Mariello, Anthony Mariello, Gino Mariello, Mia Mariello and Colin Mariello; one brother Richard Mariello and his wife Sally of Madison, New Hampshire; one sister Lucille Bouthillette of Biddeford; and a sister-in-law Fleurette (Flo) Mariello of Biddeford.

Visiting Hours will 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Biddeford at a later date.
