Marian Perkins, 101, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at The Lamp Memory Care Center in Lisbon. Marian was born on Rosedale Farm, West Bath, Aug. 2, 1917. She was the daughter of Fred J. and Ida Betty Lorentsen Rose.

In 1947, she married Harold S. Perkins, who died in 1973.

A 1936 Morse High School graduate, she went on to pursue a career as a registered nurse, with certifications in maternity, obstetric, pediatrics and psychiatric nursing. She retired from nursing in the early 1950s to be a stay at home mom.

Marian enjoyed gardening and working at the Francisco Gardens in West Bath. She volunteered on suppers at West Bath Grange and United Church of Christ in Bath. Marian taught Sunday school at Winter Street Congregational

Church in Bath. She was elected West Bath School PTA President in 1962. She was well known for knitting an assortment of mittens for family and friends at Christmas time. In later life, she took up tap dancing with Fay Pye and joined Marjorie Perkins’ line dancing group.

She is survived by two sons Harold S.

(Steve), his wife Juliet, and Richard S., of San Diego, CA. Her handicapped grandson, Matthew J. Perkins, son of Harold and Juliet, died in 2014.

A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date, arrangements by Desmond Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the United Church of Christ in Bath, Special Olympics, the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, or charity of your choice. No flowers please.
