WINDHAM — The ballot is set for Windham’s November municipal elections, and a former Town Council chairman is looking to make a comeback in a three-way race.

Windham voters will elect two town councilors and two RSU 14 School Board members on Nov. 6. The two council seats on the ballot are the West District seat now held by Tim Nangle and an At Large seat held by Dennis Welch.

The At Large seat is the only contested race of the two, with Welch fielding challenges from former councilor David Nadeau and Charles Hawkins, Jr.

Nadeau most recently served on the council as vice chairman, losing a reelection bid last November to current Councilor Rebecca Cummings 1,786-1,546 for Windham’s East District seat. Welch served as chairman of the previous council when Nadeau was Vice Chairman.

Tensions flared on the council in February, when members voted 4-2 not to appoint Nadeau to a three-year term on the Planning Board. Welch was absent for that vote.

Windham voters will choose between three candidates for two School Board seats. Incumbents Dawn Dillon and Marge Govoni are facing off against David Lydon, who has made several unsuccessful runs for town council.

Govoni and Nadeau were profiled in a 2015 Lakes Region Weekly story that dubbed them “Windham’s power couple.”
