
BATH — Former Bath City Manager Bill Giroux has been hired as the interim town manager of Standish. After 11 years working in Bath, Giroux retired as Bath city manager last year. Before that he served as the manager of Bowdoinham. He has also served stints in municipal government in Portland and Brunswick. As reported by the Lakes Region Weekly, Giroux will work three days a week at $400 a day Giroux will work about three days per week and be paid $400 per day as the town completes a search for a permanent town manager. Giroux, who has stated his interest in continuing in municipal work after a brief break, could be considered for the permanent position. Standish fired its previous Town Manager, Kris Tucker, in July without cause.
