Lisbon — Firefighters were called a fire at an apartment building on Spring Street Thursday morning.
Crews were called at about 9:20 a.m. The Lisbon Fire Department was assisted by engines from Topsham and Lewiston, containing the fire to one unit. According to Fire Chief Nate LeClair, at least one tenant has been displaced and a pet was lost in the fire. LeClair wasn’t sure if more than one person lived in the unit.
Crews were able to knock the fire down by 9:41 a.m. LeClair said the cause is believed to be an accident, although he was still waiting on official word Thursday afternoon.
“We’re thinking it was a towel left too close to a light bulb that was on,” said LeClair.
LeClair added tenants in neighboring units of the four-unit building would be able to return back to their homes Thursday evening, once power was restored to the building. No one was injured.
