LEBANON — Lloyd C. Woodman, 93, of Lebanon, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Lloyd was born on Jan. 20, 1925 to Kenneth and Marguerite (Mace) Woodman in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Elizabeth C. Stanton. After completing his term in the military he returned to Sanford where he met and married Doris Fraser.  Together they raised one daughter and shared 68 years of marriage until her death in 2016.

Lloyd possessed a strong work ethic throughout his life. He started Rosa’s Deli in Sanford which he owned and operated for many years.  He also ran The Clam Shack in Kennebunkport for several years and he owned and operated the Jerry Lewis Twin Cinemas in Sanford for many years until he retired to his beach house on Drakes Island in the 1980s. Lloyd was a longtime member of the Sanford Elks Lodge.

When he was younger, he enjoyed taking his wife to the pier at Old Orchard Beach to dance and listed to the big bands. He liked to go for rides on his Harley Davidson and going to the car auctions of Saturdays with his friend, Richard “Spike” Fogg.  Lloyd loved spending his summers with his wife at their beach house and spending time with his family.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Doris Woodman, his daughter, Gail Nevison, his brother, Alfred Woodman and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Woodman.

Surviving are his granddaughter, Lori Hayden and her husband Charles of Lebanon; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Libby Hayden of Lebanon; and his brother-in-law, Gordon Fraser and his wife Dian of Sanford.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main St. in Sanford.  Interment with military honors will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
