I started noticing state Sen. Cathy Breen, D-Falmouth, as a likable person to shake hands with outside my polling place. Now that she has been our senator for four years in District 25, I’m glad to learn that someone so likable can accomplish so much. With Cathy’s help, Maine has better funding for education, improved preservation of natural resources, and lower real estate taxes. She is on the front lines for better mental health care, and expanding Medicaid. She is the ranking member of the powerful Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. All these and more are reasons to vote for her on Nov. 6. But most compelling to me is the quality of her monthly Legislative Update, which is a clear source of information not only on Sen. Breen’s successes, but in general on what’s happening in Augusta. In these difficult times let’s support such high quality of public service.
