WOOLWICH — Robert David Allen Jr., of Woolwich, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Horizons Living and Rehab Center in Brunswick. He passed of CHF and diabetes issues.

Robert was born to Robert David Allen Sr. and Anna Marie Burgess Allen.

He attended Woolwich Central School, playing baseball and basketball while there. He went on to attend Morse High School in Bath, graduating in the class of 1971. He attend a two- year trade school CMVTI in Lewiston to study carpentry.

He worked in different areas around the state, building and renovations, until a snowmobile accident on February 2, 1978. He became disabled and unable to do the type of work he wanted, he did build his home on Milt Carlton Road , Woolwich, with the help of family and friends. He lived there until his health started to decline.

He enjoyed hunting and playing with his different black labs that he owned over 40 years. He tried to stay as active as possible. Eventually due to declining health, he spent the past 11 years in various nursing facilitates.

He was predeceased by his parents, uncles, aunts and four cousins, and his black labs, the last two named Kate T. and Dr. Ruth.

He is survived by his sister Nancy Allen Truhel and husband Carl of Nobleboro, a niece Sarah Truhel Saucier and husband William of Waldoboro, a nephew Jeremy C. Truhel and wife Wendy of Greensboro, N.C., grandnieces Madeleine E. Truhel and Mina C. Truhel of Greensboro, N.C. and Zofia Saucier of Waldoboro, one uncle, Clinton E. Davis of Woolwich and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, one may give to the Black Lab rescue (NorthEast) Coastal Humane Society, American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.

Visiting hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.
