Encouraging interaction and use of resources among justice system personal and community agencies for prevention, treatment and law enforcement. Access to health care is at the core of addressing this

2) What legislation do you support, if any, to address failures in the state’s child abuse prevention system?
To improve the child welfare system, it has to be a multi-pronged approach including truancy, improving mandatory reporting, strained HHS personnel, expanding foster care options, new computer system.

3) Should schools continue to push forward with proficiency-based diplomas? Why or why not?
Each school district should determine what is best for their students.

4) Are you in favor of some type of universal health care for Maine residents? Why, or why not?
Access to quality health care is essential. A health related issue should not force people into insurmountable debt. Yes, I am in favor of improved health care system.

5) Do you support Question 1 (the 3.8% tax to fund the home care program)? Why, or why not?
Support for home care program should come from the general fund and established through vetted policy.

6) Are you frustrated by the political sniping, exaggeration and even lies between the parties and their supporters that have threatened progress usually reached through respect and reasoned compromise? If so, what will you personally do to make the situation better?
The bills that I have worked on and have had passed involved working with my Republican colleagues. Good policy is uniting and it happens through compromise and perseverance.

I grew up on a farm with a strong agricultural background.
