On October 29 at 4:30 a.m. Alvin Mansfield Moore ended his long fight with cancer as he passed away at Mid Coast Hospital.
In life he was a lover of yard sales, flea markets and treasure hunting. He enjoyed mechanic work as well as telling stories of when he was younger. He was a life-long fisherman who in later years dreamed of putting a boat out to lobster again. He was a jack of all trades and good with his hands. He was the salt of the earth to many people.
He was born May 18, 1951, the son of Ruby and Mansfield Moore.
He was always proud of his life as he wasn’t supposed live past childhood. He was raised and lived in Five Islands.
He was predeceased by his mother Ruby, father Mansfield, brother Charlie and brother Carroll. He is survived by son Alvin, daughter Elizabeth and husband David, son Mansfield, daughter Mary and spouse Nate, son Daniel and wife Angel and Kaleb, who he raised as his son, a sister Marion, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be on November 9 at 2 p.m. at Five Islands Baptist Church, followed by a celebration of life/potluck at the community center. Please feel free to bring something to share.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
