BIDDEFORD — Laura F. McKenney, 88, of Biddeford, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at St. Andre’s Healthcare Facility.

She was born in Biddeford on Aug. 15, 1930, a daughter of Allan G. and Mary A. (Norwood) Hussey.  Laura graduated from Biddeford High School with the Class of 1947.

She worked for nine years as a telephone operator before her marriage to William W. McKenney at St. Mary’s Church on April 16, 1955.  After her children were grown, she returned to work in the housekeeping department at St. Andre’s Healthcare.

Laura was actively involved in her community as a member of the Union Church at Biddeford Pool, the Biddeford Pool Community Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Biddeford Pool Volunteer Fire Department.  She loved gardening, sewing, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, trips to the beach and spending time with family.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William McKenney in 2005; her son, Kevin McKenney in 2014; a sister, Mildred Corbeil, and a brother, James Hussey.

Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Belanger and her husband Norman of Biddeford; three sons, Robert McKenney and his wife Sandra of Biddeford,       Thomas McKenney and his partner Laurie Turmel of Dayton and James McKenney of Biddeford; daughter-in-law, Thorin McKenney of Biddeford; a sister Marjorie Mann of Kennebunk; five grandchildren Joseph McKenney, Christopher, Todd and Emily Belanger and Kaitlyn McKenney; six great-grandchildren, Griffin and Emmie McKenney, Baxter and Camden Belanger and Kashton Assante and Sullivan Belanger.

Visiting Hours will 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at the Union Church on Stone Cliff Road, Biddeford Pool, ME.   Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
