TOPSHAM — The Topsham Recreation Department has several winter programs on the docket.

Eagles Coed Basketball

The Eagle Hoops seventh- and eighth-grade program is for students within the SAD-75 school district.

Participants will receive skills instruction and scrimmage play. Coaching and skills will be provided by the Mt. Ararat varsity boys basketball coach Dave Dubreuil and his players.

The program will run for five Saturdays beginning Dec. 8 and runs through Jan. 12 inside the middle school gymnasium from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Registration fee for all students is $35. T-shirts will be provided.

Little Dribbles

For first- and second-graders from SAD-75 only.

All games are played on Saturday mornings at the Williams Cone School gym. Games will begin on Jan. 5 and runs for six week through Feb. 9.

Each “game” will consist of a skills presentation and a scrimmage.  The skills portion of the program will be directed by Mt. Ararat varsity girls basketball coach Andy Morris and his players.

A different skill/drill set will be presented each week.

Registration fee is $40. T-shirts will be provided for all participants.

Deadline to register is Dec. 13. The recreation office is open until 6 p.m. on Thursdays. A $10 late fee will be applied after this date, if space is available.

Coed Wrestling

For ages 4 through first grade for SAD-75 students only.

This program will run on Tuesdays and Fridays for 10 weeks, beginning Jan. 8 from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The sessions will be held inside the Mt. Ararat High School wrestling room.

Registration fee is $25. T-shirts will be provided.

Participants need to wear proper attire (shorts and sneakers).

Basic Coed Wrestling

For grades 2-5.

This program will run on Tuesdays and Fridays for 10 weeks, beginning Jan. 8 from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

The sessions will be held at the Mt. Ararat High School wrestling room and is for SAD-75 participants only.

Registration fee is $50. T-shirts will be provided.

Participants need to wear shorts and sneakers.

Learn to Ski/Snowboard

If you live in Maine, there is no reason to not let your child experience skiing and snowboarding at it’s best.

Lost Valley will offer children the very best skiing/snowboarding opportunity within 40 minutes from home.

This program is open to children ages 7 and up. Instruction begins Jan. 11 and lasts for one hour and 15 minutes per session, beginning at 6 p.m. and running for six consecutive weeks.

Also, Lost Valley is offering a free ski option for parents and teens who have had at least two years of lessons.

Departure for the trips will take place from the Topsham Municipal Building at 4:15 p.m., with return planned for 9 p.m.

The local prefit (for rentals) will be on Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Brunswick Parks and Recreation Building at 220 Neptune Drive on the old Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Rentals and lessons cost $235, with lessons only costing $145.

The deadline to register is Dec. 15.
