SACO  — Theresa E. Colpitts, age 88, passed from this life on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, called home by God, her Savior and Redeemer.  She had dealt with Parkinson’s Disease since 2006.

The daughter of the late Garnet Francis Colpitts and Mary Hickey Colpitts, she was born on Nov. 10, 1930.

She was educated in Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1948.  Then was employed in the business office of the Webber Hospital, know known as Southern Maine Medical Center, for 10 years.  In 1958 she began a 34-year career joining the office staff of Prudential Insurance Company in Portland where she served as the companies Maine office manager for 17 years prior to her early retirement in 1991 to care for family members.

Theresa enjoyed travels to the Holy Land, Italy, Ireland, Nassau, Quebec and the Canadian Provinces, as well as much of the United States while driving with her niece, Mary Cameron Betancourt, on a trip between Maine and Wyoming and another to Colorado.

Theresa was a lifelong member of Most Holy Trinity Church where she has served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She also served various terms as a Parish Council member and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s Organization and for 15 years Theresa was chair of the Funeral Reception Committee.  An avid crocheter, she also participated in the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Theresa has been an Associate of the Maine Province of the Sisters of Saint Joseph since 1994.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, seven brothers and two sisters.  She leaves behind her sister-in-law Francys Colpitts of Tucson, Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was grateful for the Wardwell Staff for their care and attention.  Theresa was particularly grateful to her nieces: Mary Betancourt, for her daily phone calls from Florida; Kathy Ramsey and great niece Sarah Ramsey for attending to her faithfully since she stopped driving in 2008 and for providing full-time care to her since October 2017; and great niece, Julie Colpitts Martel and her husband Mike who were of so much help as Theresa downsized and moved over the years.

Visiting Hours celebrating Theresa’s remarkable life will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 271 Main St., Saco. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elm Street, Biddeford.
