BATH — Anthony “Tony” J. Ouellette, age 97, of Whiskeag Road, died on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the HillHouse.

He was born in Brunswick on March 3, 1921, the son of Cyprien and Maryanne Plourde Ouellette. Tony attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from Brunswick High School. During WWII Tony served in the Navy.

On July 1, 1950, he married Aline Lanteigne. She died on January 1, 2012.

Tony retired in 1983 as a foreman from Bath Iron Works after a career of 36 years.

Tony was very active in semi-pro sports becoming a Maine heavyweight boxer in 1947-1948. For over 42 years, Tony served in swimming programs as an official and instructor.

Tony was a charter member of the Maine Swimming Officials, a member of the American Legion, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish.

Surviving are two sons Arthur Ouellette and his wife Rose of St. Petersburg, FL, and Andrew Ouellette of Topsham. Three daughters Anne Cross and her husband Robert of Manchester, CT; Anita Bleem and her husband John of Fort Collins, CO, and Adele Suggs and her husband Merlin of Bath. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Tony was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Philip and Omer Ouellette, and two sisters Simmone St. Pierre and Cecile Field.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick. Interment with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Charles Building Fund, 132 McKeen Street, Brunswick, ME 04011.
