ALFRED — The Alfred Shaker Museum is closed for the season, but community members can still enjoy programming from the museum by viewing online videos on the museum’s website.

The Alfred Shaker Museum, 118 Shaker Hill Road, is open May until November. The museum has a collection of Shaker items and hosts educational events.

The Alfred Shaker Museum and Sanford-Springvale Historical Society have posted online a collection of videos of the museum’s Sid Emery Memorial Forum series.

The Sid Emery Memorial Forum is named after Springvale resident Sid Emery, who died at the age of 101 and had connections with both the Alfred Shaker Museum and the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society. To view the videos, go to www.alfredshakermuseum.com.

The Sid Emery series is funded with the help of several foundations. Some of the lectures were filmed by Sanford High School students under teacher James Harmon, and some were filmed by Patrick Bonsant at Saco River community television. The videos are about 45 to 75 minutes long.

This year’s presentations include talks by Babe Ruth impersonator Steve Folven, Sanford Mayor Tom, Maine author Eleanor P. Brackbill and staff from the Center for Wildlife at Cape Neddick.

Previous year’s lectures include discussions about woodworking, stone cutting and film making and a talk about the people who lived on Malaga Island. There is also a video of a Native American craftsman talking about artifacts and discussing a historical perspective on the Wabanaki Confederacy, a history professor talking about a book he co-authored and a discussion by an environmental scientist and author about the Shakers concerns during the Civil war and their relationship with President Abraham Lincoln.
